    How to register for a Victorian Government Library Service (VGLS) account to access the Macquarie Dictionary.

    Use the dictionary to check spelling. For hyphenation and capitalisation decisions, visit the Victorian Government Style Guide.

    Register for an account

    1. Go to the Victorian Government Library Service website and register as a new user.

    2. You will be confirmed as a user and be emailed a record of your user registration confirmation.

    Access the dictionary

    1. Return to the VGLS homepage and look for the heading 'Resource Links' in the middle column of the page.

    2. Click on the dropdown menu, select Macquarie Dictionary and click the Go button.

    3. As part of the authentication process, you may be prompted for your username and password. 

    4. After you're taken to the Macquarie Dictionary website, bookmark this URL.

    Contact VGLS if you need support with using their online resources or registering as a user.

    It's useful to have the 'Did you mean?' option selected when searching for a word in the Macquarie Dictionary, to make your search results wider.
