- 5 Custom work is not paid for by the central analytics contract
Â
The Victorian government has a centralised and paid version of Google Analytics 4 and a support contract as part of the Single Digital Presence service catalogue. The paid version provides more features and ensures GA accounts are accessible and up-to-date.
Services provided are as follows.
All Victorian websites can be part of the WoVG Google Analytics 4 account
If you’re not part of the account or not sure if you are, you should log a support ticket.
If you don’t have an internal technical team or support vendor and migration work is estimated at more than 2 hours, you may be asked to pay for this work. Any costs will be communicated and agreed to by you before work proceeds.
All VPS staff are able to access the public SDP dashboards. VPS staff can also request access to GA4 accounts that are owned by their business units
Publicly available SDP dashboards.
Process to request access to GA4.
If you’re not an SDP website, you should be managing your own Google Tag Manager (GTM) tracking
Each department has different processes for supporting GTM tracking. You should talk to them first and request access as appropriate.
Historical data access must be paid for directly for non-SDP websites
SDP websites have their historical Universal Analytics data available through a dashboard.
Some other websites also use dashboards to access old Universal Analytics (UA) data from before 2023. This incurs data usage charges so a separate credit card must be attached so your organisation data use is billed directly to your organisation. If your data wasn’t taken from UA in 2023 this Google Analytics feature is no longer available to you.
Custom work is not paid for by the central analytics contract
For SDP
SDP supports setting up tracking in Google Tag Manager such as advertising and pixel tracking
Tracking and dashboards are set up to cover the most common use cases in government e.g. completion of forms, downloads of documents, clicks on links and buttons etc. Apart from specific advertising, one-off requests will be treated as a platform enhancement request. If a number of users request the same tracking then the SDP product manager will look at when the work can be added to the roadmap
For non-SDP sites
Your options are:
in-house analytics support
procuring your own analytics support contract
