How to add a feature image to a page
This page will teach you how to add a feature image to a page. Feature images don't display on the page itself; they display in cards linking to a page and when the page is shared on social media. (If a page does not have a feature image, each site has a default social media image that will display when a link is shared on social media.)

SDP content types (page templates) that can have feature images are:
Landing page
Event
Grant
Publication
Search listing.
Prepare the image
Before you upload an image, check your image has been resized correctly. Visit: Image ratios, sizes and component use.
If your team has a graphic or web designer, we recommend asking them to prepare the image for you.
Add the image to the page
Start in Edit mode of the page that you'd like add the feature image.
Go to the Feature image section.
Click Select images (or Remove/Edit if there’s an existing image on the page).
Upload your image. Set the focal point to get the best display.
Add alt-text if the image is informative. If the image is decorative, enter two inverted commas (““) in the field. (This tells screen reading software to skip reading the image information.)
Save the page as 'Needs Review' or publish the page if your permission allows.
Once the page is live, your image will appear when:
a promotion card, navigation card or call to action banner has an image set to display
you share the page on social media.
