Is a table the right choice?
Tables can be helpful, but they may not always be the best option for every situation. They can be harder for screen readers to navigate, so it's important to use them only when necessary. If tables are poorly designed, they can make it harder for learners to understand the information.
Does the table format confuse you? Could the information be better presented as a list, complex image, or paragraph of text?
Avoid using tables for lists
If the same information can be shown as a series of numbered steps, use a numbered list instead of a table.
If the table provides a list of facts, change it to a bulleted list.
Do not use tables just for formatting text, tables don’t resize on vic.gov.au so mobile users will be disadvantaged.
When deciding whether to use a table, always keep in mind that Tables are meant for showing and comparing data.
