Reset your CMS password

Instructions for what to do if you have forgotten your CMS password and need to reset it on content.vic.gov.au.

Steps for password reset

  1. Select the https://content.vic.gov.au/user/password tab on the landing page of the CMS.

  2. Enter your email or username (most user accounts are set up with the first part of your email address as your username, e.g. jane.smith).

  3. Receive reset email: Upon requesting a password reset, you will receive an automated email from de.ops@dpc.vic.gov.au. This email will contain a unique link to reset your password. Check your junk folder if you don’t receive it.

  4. Access the reset link: Click on the link provided in the email or copy and paste it into your browser. This link is a one-time use URL for security purposes.

  5. Set new password: Once you click on the link, you will be redirected to a page where you can set your new password. Choose a strong password that meets the site's security requirements.

  6. Log in with new credentials: After setting your new password, you can log in at content.vic.gov.au/user using your username (firstname.lastnamein the example) and the new password you just created.

Saving the automated email to your safe senders list

To ensure you always receive important emails from de.ops@dpc.vic.gov.au, add this address to your email's safe senders list. The process may vary depending on your email provider, but generally, you can:

  1. Open the email from de.ops@dpc.vic.gov.au.

  2. Click on the sender’s email address or name.

  3. Look for an option to "Add to Contacts" or "Add to Safe Senders".

  4. Confirm the addition to ensure future communications are not sent to spam or junk folders.
