How to create a primary or secondary campaign and add it to a landing page.

Campaign blocks are used to promote a government update or initiative. They usually reference content that is housed elsewhere. Where possible, we want to highlight the original content using a primary or secondary campaign.

Where there is stronger messaging required to align with a media campaign, a Promotional campaign page can be created.

On this page:

Campaign examples

Primary campaign

Primary campaign blocks sit at the top of the page, just under the header section and above the body content section.

Secondary campaign example

Secondary campaign blocks sit at the bottom of a page just above the blue fat footer and extend to full-screen width.

How to create a primary or secondary campaign

Create the campaign in the Custom block library

Step 1: check image format and resize your image

Use the image ratios, sizes and component use guide.

Step 2: create your campaign

  1. Select Structure > Custom Block Library in the top menu of the CMS.

  2. Select the Add custom block button.

  3. Select the Campaign option.

Fields to fill in:

  • Block description: include your site and the date of creation so it is easy to find your campaign later in the CMS. This information doesn't display on the website.

  • Title

  • Body

  • Featured image: you can add one image to the campaign.

  • CTA URL: this can be an internal link to another http://vic.gov.au page (that is housed within the http://content.vic.gov.au CMS) or an external link.

  • Link text: this will display as a button. Keep to a maximum of 70 characters.

Add the campaign to the page

Step 3: insert the campaign on a page

  • Open the page where you want to insert the campaign – this page must have been created using the Landing page template.

  • Scroll down to the Page Campaign section and choose either Primary campaign or Secondary campaign.

  • In the text field, start typing in the name of your campaign and select it from the list.

How to find and edit an existing campaign

Select Structure from the CMS main navigation, then select Custom Block Library.

Here you can search for your campaign using the Block description field, then by selecting Apply.

Once you find the campaign you’d like to update, select Edit in the Operations column.
