The Single Digital Presence and Victorian Government version of the acknowledgement of country was taken from the official First People State Relations acknowledgement of country.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags were added following user research in 2018 at the request of first peoples' participants.
It is centrally managed to ensure:
changes are appropriate and respectful of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
consistency, an important part of ensuring trust in government and usability of websites
efficiency, minimising time and money spent by government doing the same thing more than once
reduced risk of issues during quarterly releases.
Changes to the acknowledgement of country words or images must be approved by all departmental Senior Communications Executives and the appropriate First People State Relations representative.
