This page shows the demographics of visitors to vic.gov.au, as well as the devices and browsers they use.
Audience
You can also choose to filter this data to a specific page or pages.
Keep in mind that Google collects this data mainly from user activities tracked by using cookies or identifiers, or if a user is logged into their Google account and has this information included in their profile. Users can opt out of having Google track them though.
This means demographic data may only be available for a subset of your users, and may not represent the overall composition of your traffic.
Gender
Gender: The gender of our visitors (male or female) as a percentage split.
Gender by age: The gender of our visitors segmented by age groups.
Location
Location – Victoria: Details of the specific Victorian locations of our visitors.
City: The name of the city or suburb where our visitors are located.
Users: The number of total visitors located there.
New users: The number of visitors from this location visiting for the first time.
Location – Australia: Details of the states where our visitors are located.
Region: The name of the state.
Users: The number of total visitors.
New users: The number of visitors who visit for the first time.
Location – International: Details of the country where our visitors are located, or the country where their IP address is located if using a VPN.
Country: The name of the country.
Users: The number of total visitors.
New users: The number of visitors who visit for the first time.
Location – International (Map): An interactive map of where our visitors are located. The darker coloured countries are where more visitors are located. You can hover over countries to see the number of sessions.
If Google does not have an accurate record of the visitor location, it displays a (not set) entry. Inaccuracies in data can be caused by a variety of factors, such as errors made by Google or the use of VPNs by users.
Top languages
The full list of language codes can be found on the Andiamo website.
Language: The range of languages associated with our visitors. This data is collected mainly from user activities, tracked by using cookies or identifiers, or is drawn from the language and country settings selected in their Google account.
These language codes can also be region-specific, such as “en-au” (English speakers in Australia) and “en-us” (English speakers in the United States).
Users: The number of visitors associated with this language and region.
% Δ (next to the users): An increase or decrease in the visitors using a specific language. An increase will have a green arrow, and a decrease will have a red arrow and be a negative number.
New users: The number of first-time visitors using the language.
% Δ (next to the new users): An increase or decrease in the new visitors.
Average time on page: The average time spent on page by visitors.
% Δ (next to the average time on page): An increase or decrease in the average time on page by users of a specific language.
Sessions: The number of times users of a specific language interact on a page.
% Δ (next to the sessions): An increase or decrease in the sessions.
Bounce rate: The percentage of users of a specific language that leave the site (or “bounce” back to the search results or referring website) after viewing only one page on vic.gov.au.
% Δ (next to the bounce rate): An increase or decrease in the bounce rate.

Technology – devices and software
Devices
Device Category: The type of devices that visitors use to view web pages – mobile, desktop or tablet.
Sessions: The number of times visitors using that type of device interact on a page.
Browsers
Browsers: The name of browsers that visitors use.
Sessions: The number of times visitors using that browser interact on a page.
The two pie charts display this session data as percentages, and hovering over a section will display the total number.
