For editors
When you build a new page, you'll be required to assign a content category (similar to how you're required to select a topic). These terms will be used to filter site search and content collections to improve search results later in the year.
Content categories will be automatically populated in some content types (e.g. if you create a ‘news’ page, the default category will be set to ‘news’).
For content types that are not automatically populated, you'll need to choose at least 1 term in the Content collection field.
Although more than 1 term is allowed, try to only choose the most applicable/relevant.
If you're not sure what the right category is, you can ask your colleagues or your publishing queue approvers, in Microsoft Teams or via our content support request form.
We have provided the ‘Other' option for use when none of the terms suits your content. We’ll regularly review this to ensure the options meet our needs and reassign any pages tagged ‘Other’.
For publishing queue approvers
When reviewing a page to make sure it meets all of our standards, make sure to check that only relevant content categories are selected.
If only ‘other’ has been selected, try and select an appropriate category instead so the page will be found in searches.
If there is no relevant category, leave ‘other’ selected. The SDP team will review content tagged with ‘Other’ and assign a suitable term or add a new term to the list.

Other: only use this if you really can't find a suitable category. We request our approvers to attempt to change all submissions with 'other' to a relevant term.
